I used to want to be a writer. I had great visions of secluded living, staring out a window at a lush, green forest while delivering the sagest insights into the human condition that anyone had ever cared to put to paper. Much to my dismay, I found that no one was willing to pay me for my insights. So now I offer them for free in a blog.
After giving up on the dream of being a writer, I settled into the role that is expected of well-educated, middle-class men...I became a middle-manager in corporate America, a husband and a father. That's when I started to get pissed off.
As much as we are viewed as a patriarchal society, there sure are a lot of laws, torts, and cultural norms slanted against men. I wouldn't go as far as Tom Leykis and spew vitriole towards women; but he has a point about gold-diggers and about the fat cows that try to change "a man's world".
I also began to realize how utterly ridiculous the Republican party has become; and how cowardly and futile the Democratic party is. Whatever happened to government that protected the freedom of its citizens, represented us globally, and after that stayed out of our lives (and wallets)?
I guess where I'm going with my blog is to relate the daily life of a man in the new millenium version of the 1950's Nuclear Family. That would be me; the Nuclear Father.
